State troopers have now released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle accident Monday in Craven County. N.C. Troopers say a man from Jacksonville was killed when his motorcycle and another vehicle collided in Highway 70 in Craven County. Also, a woman from Hampstead, a 46-year-old passenger, was critically injured in the accident. State Troopers report that charges are still pending as the crash is still under investigation.

Fatal motorcycle crashes have been an alarming trend in Eastern North Carolina. As it has been the fourth time in ten days, a motorcyclist has been killed in an accident in this part of the state. Officials in Havelock say that the crash happened on U.S. Hwy. 70 very close to Havelock in Craven County. The crash site was right next to the Havelock Building Supply.

Authorities at the scene of the crash say the man on the motorcycle was killed and the woman riding with him was critically injured in the collision with an SUV on Monday afternoon. As mentioned previously the charges are pending. Evidently, the crash site created extensive traffic jams on Monday afternoon and into the evening on US Hwy 70.

As to the other motorcycle crashes in eastern North Carolina; the victims were: two men died in a crash in Goldsboro last Saturday. Also, a man was killed in a crash in Winterville, North Carolina last week.
