Troopers say 46 year old Rodrick Ward of Pollocksville was traveling south on 17, when he lost control of his car, swerved left of center, and was struck by a tractor trailer driven by David Phillips Junior of Charlotte.

A Jones County man is dead after a troopers say he lost control of his car, and swerved into a tractor trailer. It happened around 10:30 am just outside of Pollocksville in Jones County Monday.

Troopers say 46 year old Rodrick Ward of Pollocksville was traveling south on 17, when he lost control of his car, swerved left of center, and was struck by a tractor trailer driven by David Phillips Junior of Charlotte.

Ward was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say traffic was tied up for more than 4 hours. No charges will be filed

Two vehicles collided in Jones County, just north of Pollocksville, about 10 a.m. Monday. Reports indicate the vehicles were a passenger car and a tractor trailer. The accident happened at Highway 17 and 10 Mile Fork Road.
