A 21 year old driver died and six others were injured in an SUV accident in Coats Crossroads, North Carolina on I-40 on November 4.

The driver of the SUV was going home for work when he lost control of his vehicle due to a tire failure, causing it to roll several times. It then went into the eastbound lanes and hit another vehicle. The SUV driver was killed during the accident.

His passenger was injured, as were four of the occupants in the other vehicle. All of them were taken to a local hospital for treatment for injuries ranging from minor to serious but non-life threatening.

Our View

We are saddened that the driver of the SUV lost his life in this terrible auto accident. This type of accident is a good reminder for all drivers to ensure that their tires are properly inflated and still have good tread on them. A tire failure at high speed can be deadly and also lead to serious injuries.

People who are hurt in a car accident due to the actions of another party should remember that they have the possibility of receiving compensation  from the driver who was at fault, or from his or her insurance company. Even if that driver is deceased, a lawsuit can still be filed and the injured parties can recover compensation for their injuries. A car accident that leads to serious personal injuries can result in a large financial settlement of $1 million or more, depending upon the specific circumstances and injureis in the case.
