It’s the time of year in North Carolina (NC) when inclement weather rears its ugly head and, as a car accident attorney, I like to remind motorists traveling in bad weather that they have a duty to slow down enough to be able to handle weather and road conditions. When drivers fail to do so, deadly consequences can occur.
A girl was struck by a car on Maple Road in Currituck County, NC during a recent rainy evening. The girl was walking on the edge of the pavement with two other youths who were just off the road.
A Jeep driving in the heavy rain was unable to see the girl until the last minute. No charges are pending, but the investigation continues. The girl is now in critical condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. My wishes for a speedy recovery go out to her and her family.
When a crash involves a pedestrian, the injuries are usually severe or fatal. Each accident and situation always has its own special facts, so it’s important to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney about the case. At the very least, you should read the Best Guide to Car Accident Injuries in North Carolina from my firm.
