According to an article in the Virginian Pilot, 16 year-old Thomas Reid Smith DeBlieu of Manteo, North Carolina (NC) was killed when the vehicle he was a passenger in was struck by an oncoming Jeep. The crash happened at U.S. 158 and Danube in Nags Head. The 1999 Jeep was headed south on U.S. 158 when it struck the Ford on the passenger side. “Deblieu died from his injuries later at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital,” said Lt. Kevin Brinkley of the Nags Head Police.

The drivers of the Ford and Jeep were treated and released from the hospital. “Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the collision,” said Brinkley. The investigation continues.
