Rocky Mount, North Carolina (NC) police have arrested a man they say tried to kill two women with his car Monday morning. Steven Felix was arrested last night after an officer spotted his vehicle. Officers say the man initially stopped for them in the L&L Store parking lot on Winsted Avenue, but then took off. He was arrested after a short police chase.

Rocky Mount police say it started around 8:45 a.m. at City Lake. They say the black 2008 Ford Escape tried to hit a woman as she was walking by the lake. About 15 minutes later, police say Felix drove to the U Brush Em car wash and spoke to a woman while she was vacuuming her car.

Police say he began harassing the woman and she reported it to the attendant. They say Felix got back in his SUV, struck the woman’s car and then chased her with his vehicle. She was hit and fractured her knee that was treated at Nash General Hospital.

Felix is being held on a $150,000 bond. He’s charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of felony hit & run, and failure to heed to light or siren.

Although there is no apparent reason Felix struck out at these innocent victims, it is clear that he was out to do harm and injury to these Rocky Mount women. The online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, defines the term “hit & run” as a crime of colliding with a person, their personal property, (including their motor vehicle), or a fixture and failing to identifying oneself afterwards.
