A man was killed about 100 feet from his home after he was dropped off after work. Another vehicle driving down the street had no chance to keep from hitting the victim when he stepped out into the street. The pedestrian accident happened in Jackson.

A 23-year-old Jackson man died Thursday after he was struck by a car on Bryantown Road, according to the state Highway Patrol.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Halifax Regional Medical Center and then was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville. His injuries were too severe and doctors were not able to save him. The driver of the car has not been charged and the Highway Patrol has deemed his death an accident.
