A police chase resulted in a five car accident in Tabor City on Monday. A police officer observed a car speeding and attempted to pull over the car. That resulted in a chase at speeds of 100 miles per hour.

It was the speeding violation, on Old Stake Road, that prompted Trooper J.B. Baxley to attempt to pull over the 1994 Toyota Camry that Green was accused of driving.

Baxley said he turned on the car about 2:44 p.m. Monday, pursued it to Sidney-Cherry Grove and north across N.C. 410 at more than 100 miles per hour. The chase turned south when it reached U.S. 701 and continued into Tabor City.

The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 701 and N.C. 904.

Two parked cars were hit in the crash. No one was in those cars. Four people were injured, including the passenger in the Camry. The driver of the Camry has been charged with multiple crimes including driving while impaired, felony hit and run, and having an open container in the car. No one was seriously injured in the accident. The police are still investigating the accident.
