An Atlantic Beach man has been killed in a car crash. The Wilmington police say 68-year-old Moses Wheeler, Jr. from Carteret County died in the four-car crash Monday. Police say Wheeler drove into oncoming traffic on Market St. near Cardinal Dr. in Wilmington, NC around 5:45 p.m. Monday, setting off the accident.

Authorities think its possible Wheeler suffered from a medical condition before the crash; a witness said it appeared he passed out. Everyone else involved survived the crash. However, police say Wheeler’s passenger, 62-year-old Helen I. Cutler of Wilmington, is listed in serious condition at the hospital in Wilmington.

Police say that James L. Rose, the driver of the car that Wheeler hit head-on, is also in serious condition. There was no mention of Rose’s address. Two others involved were treated and released from the hospital.
