Air Force officials have reported that an Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle assigned to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base crashed at approximately 3:15 a.m. Kabul time on Saturday in eastern Afghanistan.
The jet crashed while performing routine coalition operations. The two crewmembers inside the F-15 Strike Eagle were killed in the crash instantly. Officials reporting on the jet crash that killed these pilots have not released the names until next of kin have been notified. Air Force authorities have included a special board of officers to investigate the accident.
