Today, the FDA has announced that a very popular weight loss pill known as “hydroxycut’ is reported to cause liver damage and other health related problems. Government health officials have announced the recall of this popular diet pill.
Officials at the Food and Drug Administration said Friday the manufacturer of Hydroxycut has launched a nationwide recall of the dietary supplement, consumed by people trying to shed pounds, also used by body builders to sharpen their muscles.
Although it is still unclear to what extent of liver damage that one can incur by taking this diet pill, we recommend that you take heed of the FDA’s warning and cease consumption of this product. If you have been taking hydroxycut we also recommend seeking professional medical advice through your physician, especially if you feel you may have any symptoms.
Hydroxycut is advertised as made from natural ingredients. This supplement accounts for about 90% of the market for weight loss pills, with sales of about 1 million bottles a year. So, with that fact alone there could be potential for many folks to be involved with this FDA recall of hydroxycut and the likelihood of liver damage could be great.
It should be noted that dietary supplements are not as tightly regulated by the government as pharmaceutical medications. Manufacturers don’t need FDA approval ahead of time before marketing their products. That is why we advise taking great care and err on the side of caution when starting supplementation of any kind, especially in this case.
