Timothy King, a volunteer firefighter, remains hospitalized Tuesday afternoon from a horrible injury from an accident that caused massive trauma to both of his legs. Bertie County Police say that King, a 25 year old volunteer fireman from Bertie County, North Carolina (NC), was responding to a car accident in Powellsville, North Carolina (NC) Monday morning when a vehicle passing by slid on a patch of ice and crashed into him. Witnesses tell us both of his legs were severed.

At last report, he was listed in critical but stable condition after being transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina (NC) The local volunteer firefighter is fighting for his life after getting hit by a car while responding to an accident. Bertie County authorities say it all started when a car slid into a ditch on Cremo road in Powellsville, North Carolina (NC).Bertie County roads were slick from Monday’s snow.

Volunteer firefighter Timothy King was responding to the crash. Officials say he was putting on a protective vest when another car passing by slid on a patch of ice and crashed into him. Highway Patrol says King has massive injury to his legs. He’s listed in critical condition at PCMH. Officials say charges are pending against the driver who hit King.

A family and community remain in shock over the news of a volunteer firefighter who was severely injured while helping a woman at the scene of a car accident.
