Wrong Way Driver Forces Truck to Slam Into North Carolina Home, Nearly Kills Family Pets

Comments Off

Imagine coming home to find you have no home. That’s what happened when a log truck ran off the road around 9:15 a.m., and into a house at Sherrill’s Ford Road in Salisbury, North Carolina (NC). The owners came home to find their home uninhabitable and their poor cat wedged between a dresser and a wall. Fortunately for the cat, firefighters were able to free it. But imagine the kind of injury or death that could have occurred had the family been home.

The accident was caused by a car driving on the wrong side of the road. The head on collision forced the truck off the road, through some grass and into a retaining wall. The truck also hit a parked car in the driveway.

The truck slammed through a screened-in porch attached to the house and crashed into a corner bedroom. There is about 20 feet section of wall missing on the side of the house.

The highway patrol has cited the wrong way driver of the car with driving left of center. Rowan Communications said the log truck driver was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. The driver of the car was also injured and taken to the hospital.
