Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Fayetteville, North Carolina

Comments Off

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Fayetteville, North Carolina (NC) this week.

The Fayetteville Police Department found the victim on the roadway around 9 p.m. At that time the driver of the vehicle had already fled the scene. Police took the victim to a Fayetteville hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police are still looking for the hit and run driver.

Hit and run car accidents are more common in North Carolina (NC) then one might think. If you are involved in a hit and run accident, as a pedestrian or in another vehicle, the damage can be catastrophic. Without the other driver’s insurance information you could be left holding the bill for all of your car repairs and medical needs.

Hit and run accidents involving pedestrians are often more serious then vehicle to vehicle accidents. Pedestrians are often hit while trying to cross roadways; especially at night when the driver’s vision is limited. To avoid being hit as a pedestrian be sure to always use designated cross walk areas. Only cross traffic when you are sure it is safe. If possible wait for an intersection that is protected by a traffic light. If there are no traffic light installed intersections near by be sure to look both ways for passing cars before entering the roadway.

Tragically, as the death in Fayetteville shows, not all pedestrian accidents are avoidable. If you see an accident happen, be sure to call the local police department immediately with as much information as possible. If you are involved in an accident try to seek help immediately. If you are suffering from loss of work, mounting medical bills and personal suffering after your accident a personal injury attorney may be able to help you. Personal injury attorney’s can work with hospitals, insurance companies and even the local police department on your behalf to get you what you need to heal.
