One person dead and others injured after a car accident in Raleigh, North Carolina

Comments Off

Three people were injured and one woman was declared dead on the scene after a car accident in Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) Sunday morning.

According to the Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) police department Teresa Bordeaux and her two passengers, Gary Bryant and Cassandra Carroll, were stopped at an intersection when Teresa Bordeaux’s car was struck by Keosha Patton’s car. Keosha Patton had changed lanes around an SUV thatEdit Profile prevented her from seeing Teresa Bordeaux’s car in front of her. Patton attempted to stop but was unable to due to her speed. Patton’s car rear ended Bordeaux causing her to jump a median and sideswipe another car driven by Sharde Jones.

Lt. Chris Bertram of the Raleigh, North Carolina (NC) police department reported that Keosha Patton, Gary Bryant and Cassandra Carroll were sent to Wake Medical Center and released after being treated for only minor injuries. Sharde Jones was able to leave the scene of the car accident unhurt. Unfortunately, Teresa Bordeaux was pronounced dead on the scene.

Lt. Chris Bertram also reported that Keosha Patton had been charged with death by motor vehicle, speeding and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision by the Raleigh police department.

The sudden loss caused by car accidents like this are always a sobering moment. They remind us all why maintaining proper speed is such an important factor in safe driving. Roadways can change quickly and it is vital to always maintain a speed that will give you time to react should something happen.

Also, through my years as a personal injury attorney I have seen several car accidents involving SUVs. People often do not realize just how much an SUV on the roadway can limit other driver’s line of vision. Remember that SUVs being much larger then standard size vehicles can completely block the sight of another smaller car. Pay special attention to roadways on all sides of an SUV, especially when you are changing lanes or turning at an intersection.
