A 20-year old North Carolina A&T student died in a one car accident last Sunday. According to a Wilmington, North Carolina (NC) television station, the young woman died in a crash on NC 17.
She was a passenger in a Hyundai Accent that was going south near NC 210 when the car flew off the road and rolled. Tragically, she died at the scene.
A spokeswoman for the university said that the woman was a sophomore and was studying social work.
The driver of the car also was 20 years old and she suffered only minor injuries. The police have charged her with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
Our deepest condolences go out to the passenger’s family. Losing a loved one is always heartbreaking, but it is especially painful when the loss is sudden and completely unexpected. It’s also very difficult to lose someone so young who had their whole life ahead of them.
The exact cause of this wreck remains unknown. Was the driver distracted? Was there a mechanical issue? We will have to wait and see what the investigation reveals.
